Position: Sales and Estimating for Higher Education and Healthcare Market

Duties and Responsibilities: Manage project leads, project budgeting, project estimating, project negotiations and some involvement in project management as needed.

Cary, NC Company (SBE) seeking a Controller with experience within the construction industry. This fast-growing and progressive company is looking for a self-starting individual, highly-motivated and capable of working with people in a proactive manner. Reporting directly to the CEO and President (owners), the Controller is responsible for managing the company’s financial resources and operations. Responsibilities include oversight of accounting staff, financial reporting, budget, cash flow, project profitability and other financial activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Direct and coordinate financial planning and budget management functions including short and long term budgeting and forecasting and profitability analysis; monitor and control cash flow
  • Direct financial and tax compliance activities for NC, SC, VA and GA  Perform completion of special projects as requested
  • Project Setup in Construction Software and Project Closing
  • Maintenance and Education of/for Construction Software
  • Coordination of IT Support with outsourced IT Specialist
  • Prepare interim internal financial reporting statements
  • Proper recording of various accounting transactions including construction work-in-progress, prepaid expenses, accruals, job costing etc.
  • Daily oversight of accounts receivable and payable functions
  • Change Order Administration in coordination with Project Management Team
  • Project Billings including general invoices and AIA Billings along with special billing forms required on project specific basis
  • Management of all CCIP and OCIP Insurance Programs as projects require
  • Management of WC and GL Insurance for company and sub-trades
  • Commission Statements based on Closed Jobs
  • Sales Reports and Commission Statements
  • Administer materials for Annual Audit in coordination with external accounting firm
  • Prepare 1099’s for subcontractors
  • Manage and Develop new processes/forms etc. in Accubuild Construction Software

Desired Qualifications:
  • BS Degree in Accounting is required
  • CPA certification is preferred
  • Minimum of five years’ experience
  • Experience in Construction Industry would be a strength
  • Technically savvy, experienced with accounting and word processing software
  • Must possess professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
